Formula

Combined Odds = Leg 1 × Leg 2 × … × Leg N (in decimal format)

Total Payout = Wager × Combined Odds

Profit = Total Payout - Wager

A push (tie) removes that leg from the parlay and reduces it by one leg.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a parlay bet?

A parlay (also termed an accumulator) consolidates multiple selections into one wager. All selections must win for the bet to pay out. The odds compound multiplicatively, producing larger potential payouts.

How is a pushed leg handled?

A push (tie) drops that leg from the parlay. A 4-leg parlay containing one push is reduced to a 3-leg parlay. The pushed leg is computed at odds of 1.0.

What occurs when one leg loses?

If any single leg of the parlay loses, the entire wager is settled as a loss. That is the structural risk of parlays: every leg must win (or push) for any payout to occur.

Do parlays pay off over the long run?

Parlays typically carry a higher house edge than standalone bets because the bookmaker margin compounds across each leg. They are high-risk, high-reward instruments and are best deployed selectively.
